But back to where Taco Bell started. The Taco Bell franchise began with a name by the name of Glen Bell. A California, who after serving in WWII, came back to the States to open his very first hotdog drive through, called Bell’s Drive-In– located in San Bernadino. Bell began incorporating tacos into his fast-food menu, selling them for 19 c apiece.

He then opened a series of taco stands called Taco Tia’s between 1954-55, with several business partners in tow. In 1962 he decided to go solo and opened up the first Taco Bell in Downey, California. Within 5 years the franchise had grown to 100 restaurants.

Today there are over 5,800 Taco Bells across America. Millions of people are familiar with the Taco Bell menu as well as its various marketing campaigns (best business slogans).
