Tips reconnect with old friends – Friendship is essential to the soul. I don’t know many things about life, but I am positive about this one. There are few emotions that are greater than the need for friendship. Not just associates, but true friends. When it comes to old friends, they are very special because they are the ones that you have history with, time invested, and genuinely know that they know who you are and love you for being you. The older you become, the more difficult it is to find and make new friends. There are a variety of reasons for this, but mainly because we are all so busy trying to make a living. It makes it tough to find the time to connect with someone knew, build shared experiences, and the like that it takes to make a true friend. We already like the person and they like us. Life has just seemed to get into the way and created a bit of a divide between you and old friends. It’s ok. It happens in a lot of great friendships. Someone just has to be willing to jump in and reconnect. Let that some one be you. #1 Locate Old Friends – This may not be as difficult as it may seem. Everyone can be found these days. All you have to do is a people search, ask some mutual friends, or check Facebook. Today, many people are on social networking sites so it makes it easier to find them. All you have to do is put in a little effort. #2 Reconnect Online First – Nothing wrong with starting out with an email or social networking message. Maybe you can inbox a bit of Facebook. The point is to make sure that you reach out to these old friends and let them know that they are on your mind. You are looking to reconnect and build the old friendship up again into a new one. #3 Reconnect by Letter – Once you have made contact with this person, ask them for their address. Write them a handwritten letter letting them know how special your friendship has been to you over the years. Yes, this can seem a bit sappy and out of fashion, but trust me, it will go the distance when it comes to your friendship with people you love. And they will really appreciate the time and effort you put into writing a letter. #4 Reconnect by Phone – Make the call. I bet you are dying to hear their voice or they are dying to hear yours. It will be great to sit up and talk about all the old times that you have had to together over the years. This could be conversations about growing up, conversations about high school or even college. The point is for you to get on the phone and start laughing with an old friend. #5 Reconnect in Person – There is nothing like that moment right before you see an old friend for the first time in a long time. You are excited and anxious. But once you see them, embrace, it is like you two haven’t been apart at all. You fall back into the great conversation. You can feel the love in their eyes. It is really a great feeling and I wish it for you in the near future. Get out three and reconnect with some of your old friends.
