How to Workout in Winter
Wow to workout in winter – We love working out and getting our bodies in shape, but this cannot stop in the winter months. It is during that time when people hibernate, eat lots of food and gain unwanted pounds around the mid section. But if you are willing to get up, get out of the house and workout, then you can fight the battle of the bulge, even in the winter months. My wife says that I am one of those crazy people that love to workout in the winter elements. I just like outside, the fresh air and how it makes my lungs feel to run in it. There is nothing like it and I truly believe it makes you stronger for the spring and summer months. Maybe that is because you are weather tested and have the mental drive to keep going. Either way, you need to get out there and workout in the winter. How to Workout in Winter how to workout in winter #1 Get a Gym Membership – You don’t have to be outside. You can actually hit the gym and get a great workout in 75 degree temperature if you like. You will be missing out on the winter chill and snow, but getting a great workout in nevertheless, which is always great. #2 Layers of Clothing – You must bundle up and make sure that you are warm. But having layers of clothing will help. There is nothing like being able to keep your body temperature sealed into your body when you are outside working out in the winter. In fact, it is a must that you keep warm. But layers is the way to go. They act as in incubator keeping the heat inside. #3 Hat & Hood – It is critical to cover your head when you are working out. I prefer wearing a hood and hat to cut down on the wind on my neck and ears. I usually am wearing some earphones blasting great music to keep me motivated as well, so this helps to keep them in my ears. #4 Don’t Over Dress – I know I am telling you to bundle up and stay warm, but you don’t want to over do it. First, you want to make sure you body can move freely while running, riding the bike or working out. But you also don’t want to overheat and get too hot. Remember, while you are working out, your body will be producing some more heat as your heart rate increases and the muscles get warmed up. #5 Drink Water – You have to stay hydrated, even in the cold months while you are working out. It is critical. The last think that you want to do is dehydrate in the winter months. May seem like it cannot happen, but it can. So be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after a workout. You should be regularly drinking water anyway. #6 Strong Mind – Working out comes down to a mental mindset, especially in the winter months. You have to be more motivated to brave the cold. But if you just remember that it is all mental and if you push through it you can do it with no problem. Keep the mind strong. Those are my opinions on getting it done in the winter months, but I would like to hear from you. What are your tips on how to workout in winter.
