Sleep tips for summer nights – I’m just about to head for bed, it’s a darn hot summer night here and it reminded me a lot of my years in Egypt. When it’s hot sleep isn’t the easiest or most natural thing to do but with a little prep you can increase the chances of it happening!
Here are some of my tips.
Take a cool shower – One of my favorite tips for seemingly decreasing my core temperature before going to bed. It’s simple, quick and effective. Also you feel great afterwards and ready to snooze off if you are a little tired.
Strip off – Yes, just sleep nude! It’s the only way.
Sleep on the floor – Lay down a thin camping or yoga mat and sleep on the floor on top of a sheet. If you have tile or wood floors this can be a great way to stay cool.

Set a fan next to an open window – This way fresh air can be drawn in. It may not be that cool but at least it should be cooler than air in the house that has just been sitting there.
Keep a bowl of water and a towel next to the bed – Dampen the towel to lay on your forehead and reapply water if it’s extremely hot and it’s drying out. It may not be great to sleep with it drapped on your head but it can help you cool down quickly.
Don’t sleep with your partner – It may be a good excuse to take the spare bed and try not to share body heat. Absence makes the heart grow fonder so it could be good for your relationship!
