Relay For Life Fundraisers

Relay For Life FundraisersI just recently got a horrifying email with the subject line “Help Me Fight Cancer” from an online friend of mine, Nick Throlson…. Obviously I opened the email instantly and to my utter relief Nick is just one of this years Relay for Life Fundraisers….. I am not sure if I will forgive him for the clever ploy to get me to open his mail :) But I have visited his donation page and given $5 to help him reach his $100 goal.

If you are not sure what Relay For Life is then here is a little explanation from RelayForLife.org, the official website:

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.

Have you ever done anything for this event? If so I would love to hear from you.

Ha. Great post. I’m so glad your friend is not personally fighting cancer. This is my third year to participate in Relay. I absolutely LOVE IT! Everyone should do it!

My 8 year old son joined my team last year and had so much fun that he started his own kids team this year. We’re blogging about it at…

  2. A most worthy cause to be involved in, I think most everyone at the very least knows someone close that has had to do battle with this most non righteous disease in its many incantations.

Glad to see Nick is helping to lead the charge this is something we can all get behind.

Definitely Nick… I didn’t want to add a sob story here but like everyone I was closely affected by Cancer about 6 years ago when my Grandfather passed away after a 15 year battle so Cancer is an important subject to me… and like you say everyone else too.

  3. Few years back I was running for this marathon that starts an antismoking campaign. I was the last few (I was busy playing with my PSP then…) to finish the run but the feeling was awesome.

I was not paid or anything but the run not only keep me fit, but also feel better!

Charity rocks! That’s why I donated half my December earnings to cancer victims in Malaysia.

      Desmond that is great :)

I did a marathon once and it was fun. I raised cash for Cerebral Palsy as my niece has it.

Half way through my feet were killing me. I looked down and my white shoes had red blotched all over them… Going to the first aid and removing my shoes may have been the worst thing I ever did!!!! I had to hobble in paid for the remainder of the run!! My time was 5.5hrs in the end but I know I could have done it in 4 without the blister issue!!
