Oscar gift bags – The event I just attended gave me a gift bag containing a mountain biking magazine, a beef jerky and some energy jelly beans, not a patch on the $48,000 worth of gifts being given out in this years ‘swag bags’. Still some people may be complaining as the value of these bags is the cheapest it’s been in years!

So as a guest bags contain all sorts of goodies but at just shy of $60k have don’t compare to the $90k bags given in 2010! This years still highly valuable bag is the cheapest in 5 years but still contains some very gourmet items.
Apparently they include “a trip to Australia worth $12,000, as well as a weight-loss retreat valued at $4,000″ and “$600 worth of acupuncture, circus classes for their children and an $1,800 one-year membership to a luxury lounge at London’s Heathrow airport” and vampire facelifts where blood is drawn and injected back into the face, according to the Huff Post.
The Huff Post article explains that the price drop is due to less items being vacation bases, an issue in the past because celebs don’t necessarily have the time for a lot of vacations.
I’m sure anyone attending the Oscar’s would be thrilled to receive some of the gifts in the bag and some not so much! However I am not quite sure how so much money is spent on such an event! $60k or $90k on the bags it sounds like an awful lot for people who already have an awful lot! It’s said the bags are to make the losers feel better! Maybe they should just be proud for being there in the first place!
