Most Expensive Restaurants

Most Expensive Restaurants – I am going to guess that you fall into one of two categories on this one, the ‘Oh my god, who would ever pay that much for something to eat?’ camp…or those that think the most expensive restaurants are ‘worth every penny’. Personally, I think that you can choose to eat in such a place or not and therefore – if you have the means – it is well worth the money.

The reason it is worth the money is that these restaurants are over and above in every way, not just in price. They are flawless. It is not so much about the food that you eat, as it is about the overall dining experience.

I am a big fan of the Forbes ‘Most Expensive…’ articles, but the information floating around at the moment dates back to their last article on the most expensive restaurants dates back to 2007. So, I am guessing the prices have changed a little since then. I would love for anyone to correct this list as we try and build up a more up-to-date collection.

Aragawa, Tokyo Japan – Expect to spend at least $550 a person

Alinea, Chicago USA – Features a $195 tasting menu, although that is 24 courses

L’Arpege, Paris France – A meal here will set you back $495 for the mandatory nine-course tasting menu

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, London England – The $224 does not including a 12.5% gratuity

Joel Robuchon, Las Vegas USA – At his restaurant at the Mansion at the MGM Grand, expect to pay $360 for the 16-course tasting menu

Bukhara, New Delhi India – Located in the sumptuous Mauraya Sheraton and Tower, this veteran Indian restaurant specializing in tandoor cooking counts Bill Clinton and Bollywood stars as devotees.

La Pergola, Rome Italy – This rooftop restaurant at the Rome Cavalieri Hilton is the only three-star Michelin restaurant in Rome, and located in the only three-star hotel-restaurant in all of Italy.

Masa, New York USA – Plan to shell out a minimum of $500.

El Bulli, Cala Montjoi Spain – An average meal here is $350+ It accommodates only 8,000 diners a season, but gets more than two million requests. Booking are taken in one day! Currently closed till 2014.
