Can Meg Whitman save Hewlett-Packard?
HP was once a trusted mainstay of the home PC and laptop world. Older people still talk about them like they are king but kids think of them in the dial up era, an old dinosaur gasping for breath as the young bucks and the uber cool hipster granddads leap ahead of the fold.
So can HP be saved? Well Meg Whitman took that role back in the later portion of 2011 and so far has managed to slow the decline but not necessarily stop.
In November 2010 Meg Whitman failed to gain the governor role of California. A far cry from running a state she has now ended up CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co.
Embroiled in many problems, the company seems to be drawing bad luck card after bad luck card from what seems like a fixed deck! A recent problem saw a huge financial fraud uncovered in a UK firm the company purchased and it seems that has been taking Meg away from solving the real problems at hand.
However she seems optimistic about the prospects of a turn around, seems to have a plan going forward and says she knows it’s not a one-year job. Although she did say she never envisioned herself ending up at HP.
