I’m not into war in the slightest but that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy aimlessly running around woodlands armed with an air powered paintball gun and absolutely no clue how to use it.
My first time playing paintball was amazingly fun. Two friends and I even managed to be awarded maneuver of the day, which I was extremely proud of.
When we got there, after a safety briefing, we lined up and waited to be handed our equipment. A standard pair of goggles and a flimsy looking paintball gun. Sadly the equipment looked like it was from the second world war, with dents and repair work all over them. There was however a guy who turned up in full cameo gear and all his own shiny equipment.
The downside of using the supplied equipment was soon apparent. Sitting hunched in a bush with perfect aim on one of my good friends, I was ready to make his back sting like he had just been prodded by the devil himself. A quick squeeze of the trigger and my paintball shot off into the distance like it was mimicking a boomerang.
Cameo boy was however running around, performing acrobatic stunts and picking off my fellow amateurs left, right and center. His equipment obviously was the entire reason for this! Well maybe not the entire reason but for one he could actually see out of his goggles, oh and his gun fired straight.
I guess the moral is, if you enjoy paintball and plan to do do more than turn up once a year to shoot your boss in the anus, then it could be wise to purchase your own equipment.
