Italian Parents Fight To Evict 41-Year-Old Son
It sounds like life may be hard as an Italian parent according to reports from the consumer association Adico. Apparently 100s of families in Italy have problems with grown up children refusing to leave home.
In the most recent case to reach media attention a 41 year old sun is said to be living with his elderly parents and demanding the provide meals and do his washing and ironing against their will. He is said to have a job but just simply won’t leave.
The couple have contacted ADICO after hearing about a similar case and now the son has been sent a letter asking him to go or face legal action. If he refuses to go then lawyers will ask the courts to put a protection order in place for the parents.
The news story on the BBC website contained some quotes from the father:
“We cannot do it any more,”
“My wife is suffering from stress and had to be hospitalised. He [the son] has a good job but still lives at home.
“He demands that his clothes be washed and ironed and his meals prepared. He really has no intention of leaving.”

If this is happening to 100s of families then there might well be an issue amongst the Italian youth (and maybe further afield, who knows what it is like in USA and UK) regarding their rights regarding how their parents need to treat them.
I can’t believe any kids would want to stay at home so long and would even think about abusing their parents like this. As an adult I think it is courteous to ask if you can visit home and if circumstance forces you back home then you should treat your parents with the utmost respect.
I am sure most of you will agree but still I would love to hear of any comments and thoughts you have. - Italian Parents Fight To Evict 41-Year-Old Son
