How drunk driving affects insurance – Drunk driving is no joke. It’s a serious (as it should be) offence and in my opinion getting a DUI may well be the thing you need to stop you engaging in such a terrible and dangerous activity. Now if you get a DUI on your record it does more than just endanger you driving license. It can also skyrocket your insurance.
How drunk driving affects insurance
It’s a sad fact that more commonly an individual who drives will have driven over the limit at least once. More often than not that one time may not be caught. However it’s generally thought that in USA over 1 person an hour dies from an accident involving a driver who has been drinking so that alone shows how dangerous it is.
A DUI is obviously not issued to your insurance company but if they find out either by checking your records the once every three years that they can or while you apply for a new insurance policy then your rates could suddenly skyrocket as you become high-risk.
1 in 5 people may manage to somehow avoid getting found out however many states require a SR-22 from an auto insurer after a DUI offence, so they WILL know.
