After the news of the Walmart employee death and a few other things over this holiday shopping weekend I am really not feeling like participating in the commercial activities of this world. Every blogger and their dog is blogging about Black Friday and Monday in the hope of earning a little bit of pre Christmas cash…. and I totally respect that. We all have to pay the rent. I considered blogging about it but then I saw something that I believed required my attention more than the sickening world of shopping for things that none of us need.

This morning I saw an email from Blog Catalog reminding me that today, 1st December, is World Aids Day and Blog Catalog was calling for bloggers to unite and write on this very important subject.
I am not going to throw statistics at you as most people are quite aware as to how devastating and widespread aids has become. It can no longer viably be called a “gay” disease and modern science has brought great advancements and improved the chance to lead a more normal life with either HIV or AIDS.
However we cannot play down how hard it is to live with the disease. From needing to drink gallons of water every day to getting serious diarrhea and being restricted as to where you can travel.
So please today, even if you are blogging about Cyber Monday or planning your Christmas, spare a thought for the millions with aids and think what you may be able to do to help combat and improve this world for hiv and aids sufferers and the millions of people exposed to the disease.
More about this subject can be found over at Bloggers Unite.
