Chinese Astronauts, Mars – Chinese astronauts have recently declared their decision to grow vegetables on Mars and the moon after determining that it was possible. Researchers in Beijing recently completed preliminary tests where they successfully grew four different types of vegetables in an “ecological life support system”: a 300 cubic meter cabin. It is believed that astronauts will be able to use a similar system in space to develop their own air, water and food on space missions.

The report from Beijing stated: “Chinese astronauts may get fresh vegetables and oxygen supplies by gardening in extra-terrestrial bases in the future.”
In part of an ambitious space program, China has said that it plans to land an exploratory craft on the moon next year– the country’s first moon landing. Soon afterwards, it seems, the nation plans experimenting with sustaining life on the orb using the aforementioned “ecological life support system”.
