Applebee’s Server Fired Pastor - An Applebee’s server was fired after one of her tables, which happened to have a Pastor, complained to management.
Chelsea Welch was waiting on a table, recently, that had more than 8 people in the party. Because of the number of people in the party, the auto-tip was triggered and the overall bill added 18% gratuity to the total.

There was a Pastor by the name of Alois Bell among the people in the party– who decided to take it among himself to complain about the automatic gratuity.
“I give God 10%,” he wrote on the receipt, “Why do you get 18%?”
Welch took a picture of what the Pastor had written and then posted it to Reddit when she got home. It went viral.

The Pastor called the Applebee’s once the word had gotten out that his receipt was all over the internet. Complaining the management about his server’s actions, Ms. Welch was subsequently fired.
She commented: “I had no intention of starting a witch hunt or hurting anyone. I just wanted to share a picture I found interesting. I come home exhausted, sore, burnt, dirty and blistered on a good day. And after all that, I can be fired for ‘embarrassing’ someone who directly insults their server on religious grounds.”
