Congress looks to start funding, building a Mexican border wall quickly

Congress looks to start funding, building a Mexican border wall quicklyā€¯

Donald Trump could ask Congress, not Mexico, to pay for his wall project at the southern border.

The proposal would pass the cost of the wall onto USA taxpayers, at least initially, backpedaling Trump's campaign promise that Mexico would foot the bill for its construction.

In a series of early-morning tweets Friday, Trump also urged his supporters to attend his inauguration on January 20, claimed that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party "were never going to beat the PASSION of my voters" and poked fun at the softer ratings of The Celebrity Apprentice television show since his departure.

Trump tweeted this morning that the media are dishonest for failing to report that Mexico will pay for wall at a later date.

Indonesia puts military ties with Australia on hold
She said the military were preparing for the February training exercise and was unsure if Indonesia would participate. But other Indonesian officials were just as confused and upset as Australian authorities were.

Donald Trump is going to go ahead and build a vast, multi-billion dollar wall on the border with Mexico, just as he promised.

CNN reports that any such move might break a key promise of Trump's campaign, while Politico quote Republican Rep. Luke Messer as saying it is a tactic to bypass opposition. During his campaign, Trump suggested he would cut off transfers of money to Mexican families from migrants in the U.S., who send more than $24bn in remittances home each year. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, said in a conversation with reporters after Trump was elected that the GOP might not build a full border wall but would secure the border.

The incoming Trump administration may seek help from Congress to pay for a wall along the US-Mexico border, according to Republican lawmakers cited by Politico and CNN on Thursday. "We're not going to pay for that fucking wall", former president Vicente Fox added last March, as Common Dreams reported. "The idea that we're going through the appropriations process in figuring out how to pay for it shouldn't be new news", Spicer said.

Earlier this year, Trump released a memo stating he would compel Mexico to "make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion" to cover the cost of the wall. "So, one important step in the right direction will be funding the existing law and beginning the building out of hundreds of miles of wall, or fence, on the southern border". U.S. Customs and Border Protection built roughly 350 miles of single-layer pedestrian fences, most which stand about 18 feet, and 300 miles of low-level vehicle barriers that any person could easily walk through, according to sources following the matter.
